    Those of the photography family who have had the opportunity to shoot 4x5 inch sheet film in field, and view cameras know that Full Frame is not a "myth" the larger the light capture the more detail and the less grain (in digital world, noise). The size of the sensor may not be a great big issue if most of your photography is electronically displayed, but if you print, and if you sell prints, and in particular LARGE prints (30x40, 40x60,etc,) the size of the sensor can be critical.

The new "round table" format was perfect for this particular topic, and it was great to have the different perspectives of all panel members as they shared their thoughts on the history and future of content creation. Well done, and I'll be encouraging other photographers and friends to give this a watch.

    Some really good nuggets of wisdom in this show! Art vs documentary journalism, trends and story, dated vs timelessness. One of the biggest takeaways; if you have to explain your picture, you didn't meet your goal. This podcast would be a really good place to start a introduction into photography 101 and the "why" of taking pictures. Very well done! Thank you Steve and Fredrick!

    This is a genuine question: What exactly do you mean by "Fine Art Nudes" ?

    • @TWIP
      @TWIP Месяц назад

      Good question. Nudity is subjective I know... this usage of the phrase in this context is supposed to describe... "not with explicit/pornographic intent", rather a celebration of the light, shadow, composition and form.

    • @stevejones1682
      @stevejones1682 Месяц назад

      @@TWIP thank you for replying. That does however open another door. You as good as say it by stating "Nudity is subjective." That is that what is "Fine" is different from one person to another. The term can also unintentionally suggest that what does not fit in with what is personally meant is not "Fine." Such as the view that it is only "fine" if it is monochrome. Of course monochrome is fine but no more so than colour. There are some who would say that all nudity is either pornographic or offensive. That notion is all too often fed in to a person while in early childhood. That to me is both an obscene and a absurd view as it encourages stupidity due to some being immature about even their own body. That mindset is also offensive and insulting. To my way of thinking, the term "Fine Art," carries with it what can be a subconscious suggestion that is far removed from being fine. It has come to be that now when I read the words "Fine Art Nudes," I can't help but cringe.

    • @TWIP
      @TWIP Месяц назад

      @@stevejones1682 You're absolutely right! What one person thinks is 'fine' can be totally different from the next person. And that's why talking about nudity in art is so tricky - there's no right or wrong answer. Some folks will always find it uncomfortable, others will find it empowering. The thing is, what we think is okay changes all the time. Art changes, photography changes, and we change with it. It's good to have these conversations and maybe try to see other viewpoints, even if we never all agree 100%. Realizing how different our backgrounds affect how we see these things is a good first step.

    Be optimistic: The future needs to be the HUMAN input. knowing the image was observed by a human heart. not generated by an AI etc. there is a good future to use photography to be human, just like what happened to the internet, people took over and it became a social tool first.

    Ok , a very good talk, lots of good sense, but at 15 minutes have they really forgotten the title of the show? not a word on sensors, my bad i though this was a show about why it is the sensor that counts and the size can mislead. well i was misled too. so , five minutes in, the nice man has mentioned all the brands, that's fair but not particularly impartial. Not a word on photo-sensors.

  • @johnclarke1319
    @johnclarke1319 2 месяца назад

    Like everyone, you start by mentioning a camera brand, whereas you should be talking about sensors, and you should leave out the name of the camera body until you come to the imaging software bells and whistles. thus you lose objective impartiality within the first 75 seconds. Why does nobody discuss sensors first, and what different companies achieve with them separately. this is the only way to clarify that can be trusted.

    I'm new to this channel having been referred to it by Rob Coddore (thanks Rob). I enjoyed watching this video and observing how you go about the critique. Hopefully, you are OK for some viewer comment if it relates to a perceived issue with the image. At 29:14 / 57:31 Troy notes "You're checking the horizon". Er, that's not a horizon you're looking at. That's a riverbank. If you point your camera at anywhere but perpendicular to that bank, the water line will not be horizontal from your point of view. Regarding the beaver lodge, it was fine before the goose landed on it. At 35:06 / 57:31, Frederik asked about "est". "est" refers to established (built/erected). Thanks guys.

    Just bought into fullframe for use with my vintage lenses, coming from Fuji APS -C. I was just not aware about the advantages of FF in difficult situations like high contrast or low light. The immense dynamic range and low light capabilities just make a difference in post. In standard situations i agree, any modern camera is more than capable. I also keep selected Fuji gear, because there are just many situations where you don't want to carry a kilo+ of stuff with you.
